Why do these jail tv shows embrace inmate violence and gang activity?

These shows make me so mad I can't help but yell. Here you have these correctional officers saying “Well they have the prison code”.”The leaders of the gangs put hits on people in the yard”. They actually assign officers to monitor gang activity. They put 300 inmates in a big fence with 6 unarmed guards and wonder why they're having staff hurt. Sure they can turn over their beds and search for weapons but why should they have to? You here the wardens talk about “They can make a weapon out of anything”….

If you don't let them out of their cells at all and cover up the door window where they can't see other inmates and bring food to them(through a little door that they have to be against the wall when you open it). Tell me how this would continue. One person to a cell. They allow the inmates to run the prison. To hell with their yard privileges, they are in jail. Set in a box for years by yourself and tell me how you can run anything or endanger the officers. They would no have weapons nor a place or person to use them on. Well I guess that wouldn't be fair would it. Give me a break.
