Prison Inmate Search – San Quentin Prison Review

San Quentin Prison which is located in San Quentin, California currently houses some of the most Violent Inmates in the State of California. It’s one of Americas most notorious prisons. It’s famous for it’s Death Row but it’s main purpose is to house a transient population of over 3,000 Murderers, Sexual Predators, and Small Time criminals. San Quentin is a world within a world. An institution with it’s own brutal code of honor. Certain violent inmates who attacked other inmates or guards that are segregated from the rest of the population.

It’s a fact that San Quentin Prison Guards have to wear Flak Jackets since other inmates might try to stab them as they walk down the halls. The White Gangs call themselves either Woods or Aryan Brotherhood. Then the Nortenos and the African American gangs all claim their own space on the prison yard. There are day to day politics in prison that every prison must abide by or deal with the consequences. Sometimes new people who weren’t in street gangs when they went to prison have trouble dealing with the shot callers. Methamphetamines is the most common drug among the White inmates.

There are stabbings and prison deaths over the years, as well as some suicides that have taken place in San Quentin Prison. It appears that racial segregation is a big thing in the Big House, and violators can get beaten up badly or even stabbed for helping someone in another race. When you arrive at prison, you’re assigned a Shot Caller for your county. This is the person who controls what goes on in the prison yard. Sometimes prisoners at San Quentin Prison are even asked by shot callers to stab another person, in some cases even a friend they may have hung out with on the outside. And if they refuse, they can get the bad end of the shank themselves.

I feel a lot of people don’t write about what it’s really like in San Quentin Prison or any other prison for that matter. They get fed 3 meals per day and warehoused and for the most part society chooses to forget they even exist. I feel that if prisons like San Quentin would offer real in demand skills to people who want to learn a solid trade to practice when they get out, they should be able to do this.

Or they’ll never get a decent paying job to keep their morale up, they’ll screw up and land back on violation. I didn’t mention that most of the people going into intake because they violated have a big smile on their face, they’re where they want to be since now they don’t have to hustle to get fed. I know it will never happen anytime soon, but it would be nice if they’d educate these Convicts so they don’t keep ending up in San Quentin Prison’s West Block, known as the revolving door.
